About Us ~ Friends of the Library
Friends of the Library
Established in 1989, the Friends of
the Library are an active group whose purpose is to raise money for the
library, offer special programs and provide volunteer help when
needed. The Friends' major fund-raising event is an annual book
sale in July. They also sell Library book bags and mugs.
Funds are used to support children's programs, sponsor performances and
buy items not covered in the Library budget.
Library Projects
Annual Book Sale
The Friday & Saturday after Independence Day is the time for the
annual book sale, pancake breakfast, and raffle. Mark this yearly
event on your calendar and enjoy adding to your home library and
supporting Springvale Library.
United Way Day of Caring
Each year, the first Wednesday in June, the library participates in the
United Way Day of Caring project by hosting a group of volunteers who
help us upgrade and maintain the library grounds. Anyone is
welcome to join us that day.
Library Art Gallery
The Friends of the Library have created a gallery space in the meeting
room of the Library. With funds from the Friends and a gift of
the late Faith Emery, rails have been installed in the downstairs
room. We invite you to view the exhibits of student and community
art work that we host. If you would like to arrange for an
exhibit or have a suggestion for an artist, please let us know.
Library
Landscaping
Pat and Celeste Dolbec donated their time and expertise to draw up a
master plan for further enhancement of our grounds. We have
completed work on the second phase of the plan and will be looking for
people to volunteer time, money and plants for continuing the project.
