Loan
Periods and
Limits:
All materials
circulate for 3 weeks. Registered adult members may borrow
as many items as they like. Children under 14 years of age may
borrow up to 20 items at a time. 10 DVDs/videos at a time may
be borrowed from the adult collection and 5 DVDs/videos at a time may
be borrowed from the children's collection per registered member.
First time borrowers are limited to two items per registration on their
first visit.
Renewals:
Items may be
renewed at the library, by telephone or online unless someone else
is waiting for them.
Computers:
The library has
14 computers available for research, word processing
(Microsoft Word), and internet access (provided by the Maine School
Library Network and MetroCast
Cablevision). Computer users may sign up at the desk for 1/2 hour
of time which can be extended to an hour if no one is waiting.
There are 3 stations with a 3 hour time period. Please review the

Wireless:
Wireless
Internet is
available throughout the building for use with laptops and PDAs.
Telephone Reference:
Librarians are
available to help you with answering questions at the library or from
home if you would like to call in your questions. If we cannot
give you an immediate answer, we will call you back.
Interlibrary Loan:
If we do not
have what you are looking for, we can request it for you from another
library. You are responsible for the cost of the return postage.
Maine State Library Services:
Springvale
Public Library patrons receive Maine State Library services through the
Southern Maine Library District (SMLD). Portland Public Library
is our Area Reference and Resource Center; they process our
interlibrary loan requests, and offer reference services.

Portland Public Library Memberships
Patrons
at Springvale Public Library are eligible for a free card at the
Portland Public Library and may call there for telephone reference
services: 207-871-1700. Portland Public Library offers extensive
on-line services, which include practice tests, language materials,
auto repair information and more. Springvale Public Library staff
can issue Portland Public Library cards to our local patrons so that
they can be accessed from home (with a high speed connection) or here
in the library. Bring a photo ID and one other form of
identification that shows your local address.

on site at Springvale Public Library (and all Maine libraries) through
the Maine State Library Marvel databases.
Copiers/Fax:
Copiers are available at
the Library for patron use. Black and white copies cost 25¢
each.
A
fax
machine
is
available
to
send
only,
within
the
United
States,
$2.00
for
the
first
page
and $1.00 for each additional page.
Take-Out Service:
If
you are feeling under the weather, have difficulty walking or have sick
children in the car, call ahead and tell us what materials you would
like to borrow nad we will deliver them to you at the main entrance
Outreach:
We
select and deliver books to our homebound patrons.
Community Room:
The
Community Room
is available for use by non-profit, civic, cultural, educational,
recreational, and/or community oriented groups. Call 324-4624 and
ask
for more information.
Goodall Display Cabinet:
Do you have a collection
of small objects you could display at the library? Call the
library and talk to Dawn Brown.
Genealogy
Volunteers are available
most Tuesdays and Thursdays
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to help with genealogy searches. Please
read our policies before you plan your visit. We encourage you to
call if you want to be sure a volunteer is working. The
collections are largely self-service though the library staff can offer
limited assistance any time the library is open.
Ancestry.com Library edition is available at the Library.
